The 6 Leadership Styles and which one you should use

    Published April 3, 2017

Possessing sound leadership skills is more important than you think. From your formative years in high school and college to your debut in the corporate world, leadership skills will make you stand out among your peers while academic skills can only take you so far.

Leadership in the business world is often misunderstood as it often seems like management and leadership go hand in hand. While management is an occupation, leadership is a calling. While some may argue that leaders are born, it is quite possible to acquire leadership skills necessary to run an enterprise successfully if you put your mind to it.

Best known for his ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari’ series, Canadian author Robin S. Sharma gives a spot on description of what leadership is all about. He says that leadership is not about a title or a designation, it’s all about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact pertains to getting results, influence involves spreading the passion you have for your work and inspiration is what you have to give to your teammates and customers.

With that being said, I’ve stressed enough on the importance of working on your leadership skills but do you know why leadership skills are so important for entrepreneurs? Read on to know more.

    – With commitment, resolve and perseverance, you have the ability to steer your workforce toward a single unified purpose of achieving excellence.

    – A leader not only acts as a mentor but also motivates his employees to put in their best efforts to achieve the set milestones for your organization.

    – As a leader, you possess the business knowledge and insights to set a path for your workforce to follow. But that’s not enough; you must be able to communicate persuasively to incite others to work towards your stated goal.

    – With power comes great responsibility. As a leader, you stand firm by your decisions and are able to orchestrate high-level plans to steer your business toward success.

    – Having sound leadership skills will help you weigh the pros and cons and take calculated risks to achieve gains.
